RE: APPLICATION OPEN FOR STUDENT LEADERS FOR YES! SUMMIT
Invitation to Delaware High School Students, Teachers & Administrators!
The YES! Working Group is thrilled to announce the second annual Youth Environmental Summit (YES!) for 2021. With Covid precautions, this coming year’s event is being planned as a virtual conference spread out over several days during the week of February 21st with perhaps some associated outdoor activities. As in the 2020 inaugural summit, the event is largely planned by engaged Delaware high school students representing public, charter and private schools and from across the state. Learn more about YES! HERE. Please mark your calendars!
The vision of the Delaware Youth Environmental Summit is to empower, educate, inform, and activate high school school students statewide regarding leadership in sustainability, zero waste principles, green school initiatives, climate change ramifications, activism, and advocacy.
The summit will include time for reflection, team building, keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops with state legislators, advocacy training, and lots of dialogue. Key organizers include representatives from Plastic Free Delaware, Zero Waste First State, Odyssey Charter School, the Charter School of Wilmington, St. Andrew's School, TeenSHARP, Green Building United, the Sierra Club, Delaware Interfaith Power & Light, Newark Charter, Brandywine High School, Citizens Climate Lobby, Delaware Nature Society, and student leaders representing schools from across the state.
At this point in time, we are actively recruiting high school students from throughout the state to be actively engaged in organizing the summit between October and February. Interested students can apply using this LINK.
The YES! student leadership application is due Friday, October 9th.
Teachers & administrators, we need your help! Please consider alerting potential student leaders at your high school for this incredible opportunity to organize the 2021 YES! summit.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions.
